HOW TO CHECK EPF ACCOUNT BALANCE AND APPLY FOR PF WITHDRAWL

Employee Pension Scheme (EPF) is a saving scheme that enables employees to save for their retirement. It is available for both the employer and the employee. During a job, employer and employee contribute equal amount towards saving for the employee’s retirement after 50 years of age to handle the expenses by providing a certain amount monthly. There are certain requirements to apply for EPF and avail the benefits.

How to check your EPF account balance?

Getting into your PF account is simple. Make sure your (Universal Account Number) UAN has been activated by your company before checking your EPF balance. All employees enrolled in the EPF plan are given a UAN, which is a unique identifying number. Throughout their working lives, all employees should have only one UAN, regardless of how many companies they work for. The UAN is crucial because the entire EPF service process is now conducted online. Always ask your employer to link your EPF with same UAN. This will give users some flexibility and convenience to check their balance, get a loan based on their balance and plan their expenses accordingly.

You can now check your EPF balance through the following ways:

  1.  SMS
  2. Missed call
  3. EPFO app/portal
  4. Umang App

How to check balance through SMS?

Send a text message to the number 7738299899.

In the SMS, you’ll have to select your favourite communication language. To do so, simply type the first three characters of your desired language. Use the first three characters of the term if you want to receive updates in English, the message should be written in the following format: EPFOHO UAN ENG.

Similarly, if you want to receive the message update in Hindi, type EPFOHO UAN HIN.

This facility is available in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali and Malayalam.

How to check balance through Missed Call?

You can check your EPF balance by making a missed call from your registered mobile number to the authorised phone. This service is only available after your UAN and KYC information have been integrated. You can seek assistance from your employer if you are unable to do so.
